“Welcome to Gothic Land” is a video podcast created by Alice in Gothic Land. It is a place where we analyse the psychology behind Gothic productions and elements so we can find our balance. I help you find balance in the transitional through the analysis of literary productions, TV shows, songs, and other artistic representations. In other words, the analysis of Gothic psychology.
In this video, we explore why we need a Gothic Psychology.
From a Jungian perspective, the Gothic is not just an aesthetic or a literary genre —it’s a language of the unconscious, a symbolic mirror of our fears, desires, and inner transformations.
Through examples like Sandman and the symbolic language of dreams, we’ll see how the Gothic helps us approach the hidden aspects of the psyche —those that a purely rational worldview tends to exclude.
